Eating disorders
Outpatient therapy for Eating disorders:
Eating disorders are complex conditions that can have serious health consequences, and generally involve medical and mental health intervention. In my work, I provide therapy for individuals struggling with eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and other disordered eating patterns that might not fit neatly into these diagnoses. My approach is to take a comprehensive look at the unique circumstances contributing to the eating disorder, while still engaging in effective and trusted treatment approaches.
Because recovery involves more than just addressing mental health symptoms, I strive to incorporate a multidisciplinary approach that may include medical doctors, registered dietitians, and medication providers to ensure each client receives the most well-rounded, coordinated care possible.
For adolescents, I place particular emphasis on family involvement. Parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting recovery, and I aim to educate families, while also building understanding, communication, and various strategies that promote lasting change.
My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space, where clients can explore the emotional and behavioral aspects of their relationship with food, body image, and underlying contributing factors—developing healthier coping skills and a more balanced, compassionate connection to themselves.
